Welcome to SlipAway Ceramics and Crafts
Summer is ending and fall is quickly coming, bringing on the Holiday season. Where did the summer go? We had a wonderful summer at Slipaway, lots of new customers and friends. We also got the honor of doing some kid's camps at some local rec centers. Thank you all the staff at these centers that made us feel so welcome. We would also like to thank Gisella, Laura and Kayla for your help in making these camps so successful.
We are working on some classes for holiday projects, table runners, place mats and other decorative classes for your Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorating. We'll post the projects along with pictures as soon as we get them made.
Our Stained Glass Class has been a lot of fun! This class is nearing its end, please let us know if you would be interested in our next series of classes, we'll put the start up date on the website as soon as we set it.
Our glass fusion forms are in! We will be having another glass fusion class on Sept 2 which is a Tuesday and another one on Sept 20, a Saturday, so sign up and let us know what date is best for you. For more information go to the classes tab. We have all the necessary materials available and just ordered in some new colors of frit that will be available before the class. Watch for the up coming dichroic glass class, in this class we will be making a beautiful pendant of your own design using fusible glass and dichroic glass. The creativity just keeps flowing!!!
We are working on classes for the month ofSeptember. I know it's early, but when you want to make your own gifts and decorations it is time to get started. In the next couple of months we will be offering sewing classes in making table runners and placemates, pillow cases, lounging pants, wall hangings. small quilts and a few others still on the drawing table. To get more information on classes and times, please go to the "Classes" tab or click here.
Now, about our ceramics classes; we offer open workshop for ceramics during all of our working hours. There is always a qualified ceramics instructor available for advice and instruction. We will be offering specialty classes closer to the end of the summer. Now is a great time to be thinking about fall decorating and Christmas gift giving. Look through our on-line catalog and call ahead to make sure we have the exact piece or pieces that you want to do or just come in and look through the pieces we have poured ahead. Just a note for those of you who have been asking and have been customers for a long time, yes, it's true...Skip is pouring for us again.
We are considering doing some classes in "lost" arts and crafts. It is sad to say but many of the classes we offer are being "forgotten" in our time of immediate gratification. I can't tell you how many people come in the shop, see our Christmas trees and say, "Oh my grandma had one of those." Well, Grandma made hers. Those quilts that were so comfortable before the day of Comforts from big box stores; Grandma and Aunt Mary spent hours and lots of love putting those quilts together. We would like to bring some of that back. If you know of a "craft" you would like to learn, let us know. If one of us doesn't know how to do it we'll go on a search to find a qualified teacher.
So come in, relax, have a cup of coffee and meet some of the nicest people around...our customers. The only thing missing is you!
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
